Altrincham aided

On Saturday our hockey teams travelled to Altrincham for what proved to be interesting fixtures on a cold and foggy day.

The 1st XI played against Altrincham's U16 side, the aim being to help our opposition out by providing them with a strong fixture before their North U16 Final. Arnold dictated the game from the start, scoring twice in the first half against Altrincham's U16 keeper. The first goal came from Georgia Perkins whose great skill in beating two players along the back line led to a reverse shot which deflected into the goal. Team captain, Cara Smith scored the second goal from a set piece penalty corner. Georgina Read scored with an impressive reverse sweep and Sophie Oliver made the final score 4-0 with a well placed penalty corner strike from the edge of the circle.

Arnold's 2nd XI did not fare as well, losing their game 3-0, despite some good work from Camilla Dunlop in the middle and Heather Roberts on the right.

The U15 game ended 1-1. A fine penalty corner strike from on form midfielder and top scorer Rachel Fackey gave her team the lead in the first half. Arnold had a number of scoring chances in the second half, but Altrincham got the equaliser ten minutes from time.

Arnold's U14 match against Altrincham's U15 team, in preparation for our North U14 Final on Tuesday, certainly provided our defenders and goalkeeper with something to do, especially in the first half when we conceded three goals! Arnold stepped up the pace in the second half, with Emily Adams and Lydia Wright both playing well in midfield to create scoring chances but the final score remained 3-0.  Hopefully this game against older and more experienced opposition will sharpen up our play in readiness for Tuesday.

Two goals from Jessica Omassoli and a goal from Courtney Spector gave the U13 team a 3-0 win. This game was much more even than the scoreline suggests with the defence playing well and being tested much more than in recent weeks.

The U12A team won by an impressive 4-0 margin. Two of the goals came from Hannah Dennison whose ability to shoot on sight proved lethal in front of goal. The other two goals were scored by Francesca Beeby whose skill and passing throughout the game were superb. The U12B girls dominated their game with Rachel Hammond passing well to help her team win 2-0. The goals were scored by Emily Copp and Polly Carr.
