This weekend's tennis was played in less than ideal weather conditions with matches at Kirkham seeing rather less of the rain which fell on the Arnold courts. However, all the matches were completed, albeit slightly shortened at Arnold as the courts took a soaking.
Year 7 and 9 matches were played away and the Year 7 team managed to turn around their defeat from earlier in the season with a resounding 10 ½ sets to 7 ½ sets. Some particularly good play was seen from the Jessica Omassoli and Abby Taylor partnership as well as great improvements in the scores from the lower order pairings. The Year 9 team, despite some very close matches, went down by 11 sets to 2, losing out on some crucial points.
Back at Arnold after a cold start, the rain came down and conditions were less than pleasant. However, all players were in good spirits, and all matches were completed. Congratulations must also go to the Year 8 team, who also lost to Kirkham early on in the season by 11 ½ sets to 4 ½ yet managed a complete about turn in their matches, beating Kirkham by 10 ½ sets to 7 ½ - a reflection of their hard work with Mrs Malin. Well done girls.
The Year 10 girls continued their run of good form winning their match by 11 ½ sets to 1 ½ with some good tactical doubles displays from the first and second couples of Georgina Read and Emily Pomeroy and Chloe Stafford and Camilla Dunlop respectively. Our 3rd and 4th pair did not drop a set and our 5th pair drew their match rubbers to give the team an overall victory. Well done everyone.
