U16s in devastating form!

Mr McKeown's U16s have continued their amazing start to the season. After scoring over 50 points and 9 tries against KEQMS on Wednesday, they were again in the points away at Birkenhead School on Saturday.

They scored 8 excellent tries with 7 different players crossing the try line. Joe Kearney crossed for 2 and there were other tries for James Cave, Tom Armfield, Harry McNulty, Tom Wright, Luke Smith and winger, Kevin Wan.

The 1st XV, playing in their first match of the season, also won away with a very narrow 20-17 victory. Tries were scored by Liam Hill, Tom Horam and flying winger, Nick Costello. Liam Hill's accurate boot proved decisive as he sent over one conversion and one penalty. Mr McIntyre's 2nd XV Spartans started brightly with tries by Matthew Strutte and John Ashcroft but the fast Birhenhead backs were the difference between the two sides as they ran out winners by 24-12.

21 players took the field during Mr Evans's U15A match, in what was to prove a very physical encounter between two very even sides. After much pressure, Birkenhead took a deserved 5-0 lead but a nice pass by Sam Crowther and good line by centre, Will Fairhead, saw Fairhead dash over from 30 yards for a 7-5 half time lead. Arnold had the better of the chances and possession in the second half and some sustained attacks saw James Haythornthwaite barrell over from 5 yards in the corner. Crowther's superb touchline conversion gave the U15A a 14-5 lead which they held onto until the final whistle.

The U14A team went down by 32-0 away on the Wirral but the U13A managed to grind out a very close 8-0 win. A penalty try gave them the lead and then a Jake Higson penalty completed the scoring.
