Liam Hill's 17 points seal 1st XV win

Mr Jones's 1st XV continued their unbeaten start to the season with a workmanlike victory at home to Cheadle Hulme. Cheadle Hulme enjoyed much of the better possession and territory but it was Arnold who scored first after a 50 yard interception try by winger, Julian Richardson. This was converted by Liam Hill.

Cheadle continued to press for much of the match but the Arnold defence was magnificent. Each time the 1st XV got into the Cheadle half they seemed to come away with points as Liam Hill's impressive kicking saw him send over 5 penalties from all areas of the pitch to complete a 22-0 win.

The 2nd XV Spartans scored 5 tries in their 34-19 win. Super prop, Eddie Chui, barrelled over for one. Jack Procter capped an impressive match with a try and there were also scores for fullback, Ashley Harrison, Olly Bentley and Year 11, Kevin Wan. Robbie Goodier kicked 3 conversions and a penalty.

The U15A lost by just 2 points as they went down 7-5 away from home. It was 0-0 at half time but a careless error straight from the kick off in the second half resulted in Cheadle waltzing through for a converted try under the posts. This forced the U15A into action and Tom Jepson, Jake Nickson and James Aird made some good runs. A super team move saw quick ball go through 8 pairs of hands before centre, James Aird, crossed in the corner. Sadly, despite lots of late pressure Cheadle held on for the win in what was a very good match.

Mr Smith's and Mr Harding's U14A won 17-14. Tries by Oliver Hopkins, Charles Laycock and Alex Casey saw them home. Theo Birch, Ahmed Elamin, John Adams and Tom Hammond all played very well in what was a very impressive team performance.

In another nail-biting encounter, Mr Morton's and Mr MacMahon's U13A lost by just one score as they went down 27-22 at home. Jake Higson (2) and Richard Whiteside were the try scorers for Arnold.
