Spartans grind out good win
Mr McIntyre's 2nd XV Spartans produced one of their best performances of the season as they held on for a very close, but hard fought, 15-12 win over a talented team from Calday Grange GS.
Jonathan Wells was in super form as his try helped seal the victory after Calday staged a fine late fightback. Captain, Alex Walkden, scored the other try and the boot of Year 11, Robbie Goodier, brought five vital points. Prop, Ben Nowell, continues to impress but the whole team played extremely well.
The 1st XV agonisingly lost by just two points away on the Wirral. Tries from Josh Beaumont and a brace from Wilf Whittle could not stop the Merseyside team winning by 20-18. Josh was again impressive in the second row.
Calday's U15A completely outclassed our side, and despite a vastly improved second half performance, and a good solo try from Joe Shaw, Arnold went down by 57-12.
The U14A drew an epic match 19-19. A very impressive team performance saw tries scored by Louis Mottley, Oliver Mills and Oliver Hopkins. Andrew Walkden at centre slotted two very important conversions. The U13A lost out by 22-5 with Jake Higson scoring his seventh try of the season.
