How do I get extra time in the exams?

If a student wishes to be considered for extra time or any other arrangements in public examinations they need to see Mrs Brookman in the first instance.

We cannot allow a student to have extra time or any other facility unless they have a history of need and support. Such 'access arrangements' must be part of the normal working arrangements of the student.

Assessments carried out by Education Psychologists are a helpful starting point but do not in themselves oblige the school to give extra time to a particular student.

Mrs Brookman must be approached in plenty of time to ensure that we are able to follow the regulations laid down by the Joint Council for Qualifications.
These are designed to ensure that students are given the support they need whilst at the same time not given an unfair advantage over others.

The following deadlines apply:

For examinations taking place in the Autumn Term you must see Mrs Brookman before the end of the previous Spring Term.

For examinations taking place in January you must see Mrs Brookman by the end of the previous summer term.

For examinations taking place in the Summer Term you must see Mrs Brookman by December 1st of the previous Autumn Term.

If you miss a particular deadline you can be considered for the following examination series.

Further details are available from Mrs Brookman.
