Top 20 most prolific batsmen & wicket takers
The weekend’s matches were against KEQMS, Lytham with Arnold losing just one match after the U12s successful victories on Friday.
The U13A lost out in a very entertaining match. KEQMS batted first and very good play saw them score 138-4 in their 35 overs. Although Tejas Parekh was impressive with the ball for Arnold, early wickets were lost as the boys chased their target. A 75 run partnership from Andrew Walkden and Alex Evans turned the game to Arnold as we reached 90-2 but KEQMS fought back with some quick wickets and with Arnold needing just 21 to win KEQMS took the last few wickets to bowl Arnold out for 118.
The U14A continue to impress after their Easter Tour to the Caribbean as they looked faultless with bat and ball and in the field. KEQMS were all out for 111. Their left handed opener was their best batsmen with a very impressive 32 but when Jacob Nickson struck twice in one over to remove their two top scorers KEQMS were in trouble as 30-1 quickly became 59-4. Nickson went on to finish with superb figures of 5-25. Alex Fowler (2-10) and James Wilson were also impressive with the ball. Nickson also took 3 catches. Arnold scored the 112 in 21 overs to win the game with captain, Nanthesh Kiruparan, batting every over as he hit 54 not out. Jacob Nickson sealed his man of the match performance with a swashbuckling 16 and Jacob Reid hit a fine 26 as Arnold won by 8 wickets.
In the 2nd XI match, Arnold produced their best cricket of the season with both bat and ball. Batting first, Arnold reached 90-1 with Daniel Spencer hitting a half century. He was ably supported by Nathan Bolus (22). However, when Bolus and Spencer departed KEQMS fought back to reduce Arnold to 129-7 with 6 overs still to play. A fine fightback from Niall Bancroft (20 no) and Tom Cleary (25) saw Arnold finish on 171-8.
Our bowlers were in no mood to make it easy for KEQMS as they lost their first wicket for 4 and soon found themselves at 28-7 as Naylor took 4-6 in just 6 overs. Tom Cleary and Daniel Spencer then mopped up the tail end with KEQMS all out for 71 to seal a massive 100 run win for Arnold.
The 1st XI match in Lytham was a cagey affair with neither team really getting on top but some batsmen made notable contributions. KEQMS were all out for 171 in 51 overs with Williams (60) and Cooper (44) in good form with the bat. Josh Beaumont took 3-25 for Arnold.
In reply, we were in early trouble at 33-4 but a good partnership by Richard Wardell (30) and Julian Richardson turned the game back to Arnold as we reached 85-4. Richardson just missed his half century, scoring a good 46, and the game resulted in a draw with Arnold on 131-8 in 46 overs.
Arnold play KEQMS in the U15 Lancashire Twenty20 Cup on Thursday at home with the U13A away to Broughton HS on Tuesday.
