Our U12B won their penultimate match in the Blackpool and Fylde Cricket League with a close 19 run victory over Lytham HS U12A.
Arnold scored 93-6 in their 20 overs. Harry Spracklen batted intelligently to notch 21 and he was assisted by Joe Welch who hit 19. A quick fire 11 not out by Bradley Burrows towards the end saw Mr Smith's team set a competitive target.
Lytham looked good as they opened their innings but tight bowling by Joe Welch and Sam Walton kept their run rate low and a 3 wicket blast from Welch saw him finish with figures of 3-14. Lytham's middle order scored well and a flurry from one of their tail enders seemed to have tipped the scales in Lytham's favour. However, a remarkable over from Ned Whittle resulted in him taking a stunning hat trick as he took 3 wickets for just one run to bowl Lytham all out for 74.
The U12A's Lancashire Cup Quarter Final fell victim to the weather with the game evenly poised and only 5 overs of the match remaining.
QEGS Blackburn batted first and scored 103-8 as Peter Thompson starred with the ball taking 4-14. Arnold wickets fell cheaply at the start of their innings as Whiteside and Bolus holed out but Alex Naylor retired not out on 26 to steady the ship. Jake Higson and Peter Thompson also batted well but with Arnold on 74-4 and needing 31 from 5.2 overs the heavens opened and both teams will start all over again on Saturday 28th June.
