Further wins for our cricketers

Our cricketers have continued their excellent start to the season with 3 more wins over the last 2 days.

The U13B team won a close match against Cardinal Allen U13A in the Blackpool & Fylde cricket league. Our opponents made 89-9 in their 20 overs with Tom Hammond bowling well for Arnold, taking 4 wickets. Louis Mottley was in good form with the bat as he retired not out on 28. Jonathan Adams smashed the winning runs with 3 good boundaries as Arnold won by 6 wickets.

The U14A's superb start to the season continued as they won their fifth match on the trot since the Grenada Tour. Accurate bowling saw Hutton reach 79-9 in 20 overs. James Wilson continues to impress with the ball but it was 3-11 from Callum Whiteside and 2-12 from Luke Sherwin that proved decisive. Jacob Nickson also bowled well. In reply, Arnold were in trouble at 6-2 but good scores from Sam Crowther (19), John Kenyon (30no) and James Haythornthwaite (25no) saw the U14As score 80-3 to win by 7 wickets.

Away at Broughton HS, the U13A XI played in a very high scoring Round 2 Lancashire Cup match. Broughton batted first and were in early trouble at 7-2 after Andrew Walkden and Tejas Parekh had both struck. However, Broughton's two very talented batsmen put on 87 for the third wicket with Ward scoring 45 and Brown 51 not out. These batsmen helped Broughton reach 139-6 in only 25 overs. Andrew Walkden took 4-23.

Harrison Kenworthy and Alex Evans made a very solid start in the chase putting on 50 for the first wicket before Kenworthy was bowled for 25 by a ball that kept low. 54 soon became 65-2 but then Andrew Walkden and Alex enjoyed a 76 run partnership, guiding Arnold to 141-2 to win by 8 wickets in only 20 overs. This excellent batting display was even more impressive as Alex Evans hit his first ever half century, scoring 52 not out.
