When we arrived at the classroom we met David and Pauline who talked about health and safety with us. The first activity we did was pond dipping. We had lots of fun seeing how many different species we could find. (At one stage Lucy shook her net over my head which proved not to be a good idea because I spent most of that morning scratching my head).
The second activity we did was the minibeast hunt. We went looking for minibeasts which had no legs, six legs, eight legs or more than eight legs. On the way back to the barn we walked through some beautiful scenery with lovely sunshine. Our eco lunch produced 152grams of rubbish!
After lunch we went for a woodland wander. The first bit we did was the tree walk. We put mirrors under our noses and made it look like we were walking in the trees! Pauline told us a story about a rainbow and how it smashed into a million pieces. We had to find all the bits, I found all the colours there were to find and so did a few others.
We then moved on to the next activity where we were given opposites. We had to find three things from nature and three of the opposite and the rest of the class had to guess what your opposites were.
Then we moved onto our final activity which was to make a smelly cocktail out of the things around us and raise a toast to Cuerden Valley Park. What a great visit!
