Perfect Day
It was too much to hope that we would have fine weather, in March, in the Borrowdale Valley...but sometimes you get what you wish for.
As I write this the Year 6 pupils are playing out on the field which is drenched in early spring sunshine. The children have enjoyed a fantastic day's activities and are looking forward to shepherds pie and toad in the hole for tea.
I took my group on an all day walk and as we reached the summit of Dale Head the sun broke through the morning cloud and we experienced the stunning views around us. Lunch by Dale Head Tarn was followed by the slow descent back into the Borrowdale Valley (via the ice cream shop!). Seven hours walking with a group of children who were excellent company from start to finish.
Mrs Knight also went on an all day walk and her group tackled Green Gable. Mr Storey and Mr Coyne spent the day climbing and abseiling with their children, while Mr Hodgkinson's group went canoeing and orienteering.
The Year 6 children have settled in very quickly and their behaviour has been exemplary.
