St Annes Triathlon a fantastic success

Arnold School's Triathlon Squad enjoyed a quite remarkable day at the first ever St Annes Triathlon. 27 of our boys and girls entered in the field of 100 children and the performances by the whole squad were very impressive.

In the TriStar 3 U14 Boys event, Jack Proctor came 12th in 34min 40sec with Ben Blake (13th), Alex Garrod (15th) and Harry McNulty (16th) close behind. Heather Bottomley finished 13th in the TriStar 3 U14 Girls event in a fine time of 43min 46sec. Our Boys Youth U16 triathletes were in dazzling form with seven of the top 10 finishers all from Arnold. Liam Hill was outstanding as he came in 3rd in 47min 05sec. Sam Cole was two places behind Liam in 47min 57sec, James Craigen 6th in 48min 02sec and there were 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th places for Daniel Preston, Tom Horam, Jonathan Wells and Alex Walkden respectively. Sophie Oliver came a fine 2nd in the Girls Youth U16 Event with a time of 52min 34sec.

However, it was in the team events that Arnold really displayed their strength in depth as we swept the board winning all of the team awards in the U14 and U16 events. In the U14 Boys event, Arnold's four teams took the top four places with first position going to Ben Blake, Harry McNulty and Alex Garrod. The Dream Team, made up of Heather Bottomley, Keleigh Spector and Jenny Carpenter won the U14 Girls event and Arnold's three U16 Boys team made it another 1-2-3 as James Craigen, Liam Hill and Sam Cole romped home in first.

Perhaps not surprisingly in view of these results, Arnold was awarded the trophy for the Best Fylde School.
