Spanish Students go green
Newly appointed Head Boy, Joseph Fleming, along with fellow Lower VI students Kirstie Chambers, Marianne Hessey, Thomas Horam, Natasha Mann and Lauren Murphy have all been working with their Spanish teachers, Miss Lunn and Miss Alabart-Lorenzo to create the first ever issue of "Las Páginas Verdes" (The Green Pages).
The jam-packed, twelve page edition of the newspaper is brimming with articles that the students researched and wrote, focusing principally on the topics that they have covered in their first year of A Level Spanish, including fashion, healthy eating, sport, music and film. They were also able to get a taste of some of the areas that they will be working on next year for A2 Spanish by researching information for the Guide to Barcelona, in preparation for their topic on the region of Catalonia and also for the set literature book that is based in the region's capital.
The students were also able to interview a member of staff (Mr. Golding); they created adverts for well known products and gave tips on how to be eco-friendly. If you would like to learn to speak just like the Spanish, then the quiz on Spanish slang will help a bit, as will the handy hints for how to gain an A* in GCSE Spanish. Failing that, you could always read your star sign for the month, check out the weather for the week, laugh at some Spanish jokes or find out what has been going on at Arnold this term!
