Simon Bryan writes to let us know that he was recently notified that the Queen has approved the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor that he be appointed one of Her Majesty's Counsel (QC) with effect from 16th October 2006. We send our congratulations.
On leaving school in 1984 Simon went up to Magdalene College Cambridge, where he read law and graduated with first class honours. This enabled him to obtain his pupillage as a barrister at 4 Essex Court in the Temple, now Essex Court Chambers, from where he has practised as a barrister for the last seventeen years.
Simon has very fond memories of Arnold. His family's involvement with the school extended to his mother Dorothy (who taught dance and PE in the senior school for many years) and his wife (Katharine Hilton) who taught at the Junior School for a year. Both Simon and Katharine's parents remain in the Fylde in their retirement.
