Meeting the Arnold family
I have been out every night this week attending meetings with the different facets of the Arnold community.
On Monday evening, the PFA Committee spent much of its time planning the large number of events that will be taking place this term. For more details on the forthcoming events, please click here. I am particularly looking forward to the Morecambe Bay walk when the Queen’s Guide, Cedric Robinson MBE, will take us from Arnside to Kent’s Bank. This takes place on Sunday 19th September.
It is always a pleasure to welcome former pupils back to the school, as we did last weekend for the 1980s reunion. The Old Arnoldian (OA) Committee met on Tuesday night and they have been working hard preparing for their Annual Dinner at Fylde Rugby Club and collating the material for the OA magazine.
The Induction Evenings for parents and pupils in Year 10 and the Lower Sixth are always important evenings. It is vital that pupils make the adjustment to the demands of GCSE and A level study as quickly as possible and it is important that parents are aware of the challenges that their children will face in the next phase of their academic career. If any parents still have any questions following these events, please do not hesitate to come back to the school for further support and guidance.
On Saturday night, the OA dinner took place at Fylde Rugby Club. This was a splendid evening and it was good to catch up with former pupils from the school, including those who only left a few years ago as well as a distinguished OA veteran who was enjoying his 63rd consecutive dinner!
After the first full week of term, I am delighted with the way that new school day in the Senior School has bedded in. There is a real sense of focus and enthusiasm in lessons and the academic ethos of the school has been enhanced even further.
Best wishes
