The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA), held its Award Evening at the Imperial Hotel recently, and Arnold Drama was at the forefront when it came to collecting the prizes.
Sophia Bayjoo, Emily Oldroyd and David Thorp won a NODA for 'Teechers', a production which they have taken all over the country with Head of Drama, Mr Colin Snell.
Claire Harbourne won two NODA's, for Maria in the 'Sound of Music' and for playing Mrs Smith in 'Meet me in St Louis' for Lytham Academy of Theatre Arts (LATA).
Not to be upstaged by the pupils, Mr Kerr, who is teaching drama during Mr Snell's absence due to ill health, also picked up a NODA on the night. Hopefully all this good news will help Mr Snell to a speedy recovery, although he can be confident that his department is in good hands.
The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA), founded in 1899, is the main representative body for amateur theatre in the UK. It has a membership of some 2500 amateur/community theatre groups and 3000 individual enthusiasts throughout the UK, staging musicals, operas, plays, concerts and pantomimes in a wide variety of performing venues, ranging from the country's leading professional theatres to village halls.
