Honour for one of our Governors

A member of Arnold’s Governing Council has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.  Mrs Sarah Carr was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her long service and dedication to children and families.  Mrs Carr set up the Kinder Care nurseries in Lancashire before becoming a founder member of the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA). The NDNA provides support and training to staff as well as lobbying the government to help parents access good quality child care.

Mrs Carr, three of whose daughters are Arnoldians, told the Blackpool Gazette "I was quite surprised by it really, I've never even thought of something like this before. I look around at the sort of national figures who have a similar honour, Jimmy Armfield and Bill Beaumont, and I am very proud to be in such company.”  Mrs Carr went on to say "I have worked for many years towards getting child care recognised as an essential part of every family's life, now every parent receives subsidies to help them access good quality child care.”

All at Arnold send Mrs Carr our congratulations and good wishes.
