The Parents and Friends Christmas Party Night

This Christmas is going to be a noisy one if the guests at the Parents and Friends Christmas Party Night have their way. The Grand Hotel in St Annes was full of exuberant party goers dancing to local band Oscars Park and enjoying each others company.

In welcoming the 200 guests Mrs Atkins, Chairman of the Parents and Friends Association, thanked parents for their continued support which in recent weeks has generated over £5,000 for good causes. Congratulations to the organising team, a splendid night.

Summer Ball 2007

Even the wettest summer on record could not dampen the spirits of guests as they arrived at our 007 Ball at Ribby Hall, on a glorious sunny evening. During the martini cocktail reception – which of course was 'shaken and not stirred' – the casino tables were open for those who wished to try their luck and place bets on either the black jack or roulette tables. A splendid meal was enjoyed by everyone and was followed by dancing to the Coustics and DJ Tazz. All indications are that an excellent evening was had by all!

Murder Mystery Night 2007

Parents & Friends Murder Mystery Evening  Saturday 3rd February 2007

Passengers, the audience, were welcomed on board the 'Celebration' for what should have been a most memorable cruise for them all. Unfortunate circumstances prevailed during the voyage, with the murder of the ship's Captain, Edward Pearson.

On docking at Southampton, Inspector Peach of Scotland Yard boarded the liner to establish. Who Killed the Ship's Captain? None of the Captain's close associates were without motive and so all were under suspicion. After thorough investigation, Inspector Peach arrested cabin boy, Jack Bailey for the murder, together with his accomplice, Catherine Earnshaw, the pushy wife of the second in command.

The audience were also asked to list the motives for the murder. Jack?s was one of revenge; he blamed the Captain for his parents' death on the Titanic. Catherine's motive was ambition. She wanted her husband to become Captain of the Celebration to appease her mother and to ensure that she would not be cut out of the family will.

The PFA congratulate the Arnold Drama students on the excellent presentation of the play, under the directorship of Mr Colin Snell; with thanks to the sound and lighting technicians. Disembarkation saw passengers heading for home in full agreement that this had been an evening not to have been missed and one that should soon be repeated.

Halloween Party

Pupils from the Kindergarten and Infant Department enjoyed a thoroughly 'spooktacular' evening at the annual Halloween Party. Little devils, witches, skeletons, pumpkins and Count Draculas had a monster time with DJ Tazz; playing games and dancing till they dropped. There were prizes for the best costumes and pumpkins and it was great to see so many of the parents in full costume as well. The party was a great success and money raised will go towards exciting School projects.

A day in the Lakes

The journey up to the Lakes did not bode well as the rain got steadily heavier. Clearly, however, the PFA had not only ordered fabulous cream teas on arrival, but also good weather. By the time the eighty plus contingent of undeterred walkers arrived at Brockhole the rain had ceased and after devouring the scones, jam and cream, they were ready for action.

Two groups set out; one on a more challenging walk up Jennings Crag, the other on the child friendly Wain Lane walk. The walks were followed by picnic lunches at The Lake District Visitors Centre, the very popular adventure playground and trips on the Arnold launch on Windermere - the sun even made a brief appearance!!

Soon it was time to head home. There were some tired looking children (and one or two adults) but all had enjoyed a fantastic day. Another great success for the Parents and Friends Association.
