Murder Between The Wickets
Friday night saw the Memorial Hall transformed into Abingdon Comprehensive School Cricket Pavillion, where sports master Godfrey Terry was the victim of foul play. Hit on the head by a ball bowled at great speed, he was brought down to the ground, dead! But, was the act deliberate or was it an accident...?
Happily, Godfrey, and his peers on the Abingdon Comprehensive staff cricket team, were all played by members of our Drama Department who were taking part in a 'Murder Mystery Evening', which was organised by our PFA with the support of Blackpool South Rotary Club. It was down to 80 or so amateur detectives, (aka parents, families and friends) to solve the crime, whilst enjoying a delicious three course meal and drinks from the licensed bar.
Our talented actors from Year 12 and Year 13 played their roles to much appreciation from the audience of super sleuths, whose melodramatic 'ooohs' and 'aaahs' and peals of laughter all added to the genial atmosphere in the hall. After considering the evidence and then cross-examining the motley crue of suspects, Arnold's detectives made their accusations and the murderer was unveiled. Emily Tonge... in case you were wondering.
The PFA would like to thank the Drama Department, Blackpool South Rotary Club and the enthusiastic audience, of course. This was an effective fund-raiser for the benefit of all our children and a very enjoyable night out too!
