Parents and Friends Day in the Lakes

Family Day in the Lakes, Sunday 11 September 2005

The weather, if booked in advance, could not have been better, the sun shone all day and there was not a breath of wind. On arrival at the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole, morning coffee and scones were served on the terrace, whilst we enjoyed the spectacular views.
Families were offered a choice of two walks. The most energetic of the group caught a Windermere Lake Cruises’ launch to Waterhead Pier, Ambleside and returned via Jenkins Crag. Those who preferred a more leisurely stroll followed the Wain Lane Walk.
After walking we were able to relax and enjoy our picnic lunches. From the children’s point of view, the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the trip onboard the “Arnoldian”, the school launch, facilitated by Mr Lawson. Late afternoon, we headed for home after what had been a most enjoyable day.
