Netballers kept busy!
Year 7
A Team vs KEQMS Lost 8 - 4 B Team vs KEQMS Lost 6 - 3
A Team vs St Bedes Won 3 - 1 B Team vs St Bedes Drew 1 - 1
Year 7 came up against two strong KEQMS teams in their first matches of the season. Having never played together before, there were new positions for some players and for others it was their first ever competitive netball match. As the games progressed, both teams settled into the matches and produced some nice passing moves. Although they narrowly lost both matches it proved a good platform for their next match against St Bedes. Both the A and B teams played well against St Bedes and, although they created many scoring opportunities, the shooters didn't manage to convert them into goals. Annabelle Bowker was the most successful player, scoring all three goals for the A team.
Year 8
A Team vs KEQMS Drew 5 - 5 B Team vs KEQMS Won 5 - 1
A Team vs Lytham Lost 6 - 4 B Team vs Lytham Won 6 - 1
Year 8 had an excellent start to their netball season with a win and a draw against strong KEQMS opposition. The A team played outside in very windy conditions and it was a struggle to keep possession of the ball and maintain any flow to the game. The B team was able to play their match indoors and so produce some excellent passing, with Frankie Woods shooting well.
Their next game was against a strong Lytham team. Although the game was evenly matched the girls gave away possession too easily through misplaced passes and unfortunately Lytham capitalised on them. Jess Steward and Chloe Simon worked hard in defence and Chloe was given player of the match by the opposition for her efforts. The B team continued their winning ways with Frankie Woods once again scoring well; she was awarded player of the match for her shooting display. Grace Moore played well in the centre setting up the attack with good support play from Becky Morton.
Year 9
Vs Carr Hill Lost 12 - 8
After a slow start and finding themselves 8 - 3 down at half time, the girls had to rally themselves in the second half of the match. Georgia Bridge, Sophie Greener and Amy Brennand worked tirelessly in defence to prevent Carr Hill from scoring. Amelia Betmead and Grace Morris combined well in the attack to create vital goal scoring opportunities for Ashvaryia Raj and Rachel Hyde. The girls' passing and movement became a lot more decisive as the game progressed and good attacking and defending play saw them 'win' the second half 5 - 4.
Year 10
League match vs Carr Hill Won 15 - 12
Year 10 had a very close match against a strong Carr Hill team. Some excellent defending from Danielle Brooker and Priyanka Chabba prevented the strong Carr Hill shooting duo from scoring more goals. Anna Marsland was on form in our shooting circle and scored most of the Arnold goals, with Polly Carr and Josephine Box playing a half each in support. Good support play from Becky Ainsworth in the first half, and Mairead Lucas and Molly Betmead in the second half, meant that the shooters were given plenty of goal scoring opportunities. Katie Lawson and Sophia Fowler marked the opposition well in defence.
