I arrived at Arnold as a newly qualified teacher when the school went co-educational in 1976 as one of only three lady members of staff in the common room! Since then life at Arnold has been varied. I became Head of girls' games, and after completing the officer training course at Frimley Park in 1977 was one of the first female CCF officers in the country. I was Boarding Mistress of Newby House for 8 years and was in charge of Work Experience and Deputy Head of Middle School until recently, when I took on my present role as Sports Coordinator.
I have remained very involved with county schoolgirls' hockey and presently hold the post of National Schools' Secretary. As ever, I am still keen to promote girls' games at Arnold, especially hockey and athletics, and am very proud of the girls' achievements at hockey; Arnold is now recognised as one of the leading teams in the North of England.
