Fisherman's Friend talks

Christopher Rotheram from Lofthouse of Fleetwood Ltd came to speak at the March Ladies' Lunch. He showed some very amusing video advertisements, screened in Europe and spoke of the way Fisherman's Friend is perceived in different countries.

In England we view them as a medicine ‘to help clear your passages' but in Germany they are classed as confectionery. The youth in Germany and other European countries eat them as a status symbol and as a show of strength with advertisements and sponsorship tailored to extreme sports.

Armed with lots of statistics and samples of the different flavoured varieties of Fisherman's Friend sold, Christopher then gave a slide show on how the Fleetwood factory has grown and changed since 1865. It was really nice to hear about a local company with an international reputation.
