The latest Key Stage results show a significant improvement at level 5

The National Curriculum requires that all children in maintained schools be tested at the end of Key Stage 1 (7 years of age) and Key Stage 2 (11 years of age). At Arnold we have chosen to enter children for these tests.

The results of the nationaly standardised, end of key stage exainations for our eleven year olds show just how hard our children work.

The information below shows the most recent Key Stage Two examination results (May 2006) and compares the percentage of Arnold children achieving a level 4 or better with the national figure. Eleven year old children at the end of Key Stage 2 are expected to gain a level 4. Level 5 is the highest grade attainabe at this age.

Literacy
Level 3 6%
Level 4 19%
Level 5 75% an increase from 40% last year
This means that 94% of our children gained level 4 or better whilst the national figure is 79% and the figure for maintained primary schools in Blackpool is 74%.


Numeracy
Level 3 0%
Level 4 31%
Level 5 69% an increase from 45% last year
This means that 100% of our children gained level 4 or better whilst the national figure is 75% and the figure for maintained primary schools in Blackpool is 72%.

20 of our 48 children scored 90% or higher in mathematics and 1 boy scored 100%.


Science
Level 3 2%
Level 4 21%
Level 5 77%
This means that 98% of our children gained level 4 or better whilst the national figure is 86% and the figure for maintained primary schools in Blackpool is 84%.
