I had an early start to teaching as an instructor of outdoor pursuits at Camp Windermere, working with children from 8 to 18 and developing their confidence and enthusiasm of the outdoors through a huge range of adventurous activities and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
I graduated from Lancaster University in English Literature and, after working with nursery children for a year, completed my teacher training at The University of Wales, Bangor. From there I took up a post as class teacher at Heathfield, which is the Junior School to Rishworth School near Halifax in West Yorkshire. I left there as Deputy Head and moved to the same role at Cheadle Hulme School before taking up my post as Head of Arnold Junior School in January 2011.
Outside school my main interests are sporting and include mountain biking, walking and swimming.
