Junior Science Week

This week our children will be involved in many exciting activities linked to science.

Monday: Infants and Juniors will be able to see a display of birds of prey on the school field. This opportunity is being provided by Jim Brown who many of our pupils have met in his role as the resident falconer at Leighton Hall near Carnforth. This promises to be a really exciting spectacle.

Tuesday: James Soper from ‘Science Shows for Schools’ is spending the day with us and will be performing his ‘Science of the Circus’ show. All children, from pre-school to Year 6, will be attending and will enjoy all the fun of the circus and more.

Friday: An old favourite, the ‘Creepy Crawly Man’, will be in school. It is a few years since he last visited us and children are sure to enjoy the opportunity to handle a spider or a snake and ask him lots of questions!

Our Year 5 and Year 6 children will also be involved in an exciting project organised by the Senior School. On the playground there will be a large rocket on show called ‘Skybolt’. During the week Year 5 and Year 6 children will also be visiting the senior school for their second lesson in the senior school labs. Their first visit was a huge success and I am sure that they will enjoy their second visit just as much.

Our final activity for the week is a paper plane making and flying competition for every class. The activity is all about raising money for Leukaemia and we would be grateful if each child would bring in £2. Class teachers will let children know which day their paper plane activity take place.
