Town crier, Barry McQueen, gave a fascinating talk to Arnold Ladies’ Luncheon Club at The Grand Hotel, St Annes on Wednesday 18th January. He told an enthralled audience about his time as town crier for Birmingham and later for Blackpool and of the wonderful events he has attended as Toastmaster or Master of Ceremonies. His entertaining anecdotes about the Queen and Prince Philip, the then American President Bill Clinton, Sir Richard Branson and other celebrities kept everyone amused. After songs on his ukelele and guitar, he finished with a Scottish reel on the bagpipes. Barry will be at the PFA Burns Night on January 28th and is very much looking forward to piping in the haggis.
