The Italian Club

With its fascinating cultural history and beautiful language, Italy is an understandably popular tourist destination year after year. The Italian club, running weekly, offers interested pupils the chance to learn some basic and useful language, so that they may at least pronounce the name of the pizza correctly or even delight the locals by engaging in a little conversation. Trip to Rome April 2008

When in Rome!

Buon giorno! We came, we saw, we conquered - and we got rained on!

More tormenting, however, was sitting on the plane at Liverpool airport waiting over an hour for it to be de-iced to the captain's satisfaction. After this unfortunate delay we were well on our way to " la dolce vita" (aka Rome ).

So far we have been mindblowingly blasted with culture including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Column of Marcus Aurelius, the Palatine Hill, the House of Emperor Augustus, the Vatican Museum and St Peter's Basilica to name just a few places visited over our first three days in Rome.

21,000 paces in one day but a night out with the Principal drinking Italian hot chocolate and eating chocolate cake to compensate. Must go - hectic schedule and a trip to Sorrento to prepare for.

Ciao for now
