I have been at Arnold throughout my career and have been involved in many areas of the school over my time here. On the academic front, I have seen several pupils into Oxbridge to read Classics and many more onto other university Classics courses. In that time the Classics Department has gained a good reputation, teaching Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation, with lessons in and outside the curriculum time. I have also taught French to Oxbridge level and some Lower school German.

My sporting career has seen over 20 years as coach to the U13 XV and guiding the girls' cricket teams to success in county level competitions. I have also organised the football course for the Summer School for over 20 years and I am a qualified FA coach. My own competitive playing days are very much over now but keeping wicket for the staff team still gives me (and others) much amusement. On the drama side of life, playing the piano as repetiteur for school musicals still gives me much pleasure and I have produced four musicals and assisted, acted in and thoroughly enjoyed many more. I recently even branched out into writing my own translation of a Greek play and produced it too! Singing in the choir has also been a joy and an interesting learning experience. As for pastoral commitments, I was a boarding master for two years and have been a Year 7 tutor for over ten years.
