2nd Team triumph

It's often quite bemusing when watching sport how sometimes a team can win with a good scoreline which in no way reflects the game. This 2nd team hockey match against Westholme was one such game. It was clear from the start that Westholme were not the most skilful side but they were well drilled and had a good work rate. That said, our 2nd team were guilty of poor passing and decision making in front of goal, and of not making the best use of the possession that they had for long periods of the game.

A goal half way through the first half looked to have settled the team but by half time the score was 2-1 to Arnold, by when they should have had at least four. Westholme started the stronger in the second half and deservedly leveled the score at 2-2, but to our credit we went straight up the pitch and took the lead once again. Although the play was still scrappy the pressure from the forwards began to tell on the tiring Westholme defence resulting in some sloppy marking and the award of short corners, which helped us to the final scoreline of 6-2.

Not a great team performance, but a result.  Funny old game!
