Charity Golf Day
For the 5th year running we held our Charity Golf Day on the last day of the summer term, and this year it took place at Fairhaven GC.
It proved to be a great success with 18 company teams competing and numerous others sponsoring holes. Having registered and received their tube of Pro V1's the teams enjoyed a bacon barm and coffee. The three teams of boys playing for their own trophies as well as the main competition, set out first at 9.30 and had reasonable weather conditions for their round. It certainly suited Nicholas Sharples who was a clear winner of the boys' competition.
The main body of teams were teeing off after having enjoyed the Johm Wraith Trick Golf Show, performed in pouring rain and with John suffering from two bruised ribs. Nonetheless he managed to dumbfound the crowd as he dispatched the balls in all the directions as predicted... even off his knees!
The weather improved during the afternoon and resulted on some good scores being posted. The winning team was Parker International, which was well deserved as Captain David Brennand was involved with organising the very first Golf Day in 2004.
Our Foundation Secretary, Adrian Wallace, ran a very efficient day and the results were soon available for the presentations after the carvery that had been enjoyed by the teams.
This was a great occasion for the school which was very grateful for the support of so many local companies and to Fairhaven Golf Club for their superb hospitality and an excellent course. Their contribution will enable us to again award a Golf Scholarship and make another contribution to the Brian House Children's Hospice.
If you would like to be involved as a sponsor or enter a team for next year's event, please contact Paul Oliver.
