Blown Off Course
Blustery conditions and strong opposition blew our netballers off course in the season opener.
In spite of some resilient team spirit, our A team, 2-1 down at half time, were unable to respond to some very good defensive play by St. Pius and suffered a 3-7 defeat by the final whistle.
Our B team also showed great team spirit (the majority playing in their debut match). However, St. Pius controlled the game from the outset with 3 early goals and we were always on the ‘back foot’. The final score was 5-0 to St.Pius. This was great match experience for the squad, from which we have learnt a great deal. Well tried girls. Lots of practice is required now! I feel certain that our Netball Captain, Eleanor Garstang, will be instrumental in her encouragement.
