Public Examination Results

A Level Results 2011

Arnold School is celebrating record examination results, with over three quarters of grades being A* to B.  Nearly 50% of all grades were at either A or A* and Arnold students will soon be heading off to some of our top universities.  At a time when universities are looking to recruit the brightest and the best students, Arnold is particularly delighted that one in four of its pupils attained at least three A grades and over 16% of Arnold's grades were A*s; this accolade is only given to students who attain above 90% in both of their A2 modules.

There were some outstanding individual performances with two pupils, Robert Brocklehurst and Emily Jeffery, achieving four A* grades.  Robert will now go on to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge while Emily will be heading to Oxford to study French and Spanish.  They will be joined by three other pupils, Lauren Au, Catherine Lusher and Kimberly Millard, who have also secured places at Oxbridge colleges. Headmaster Jim Keefe said: "I am delighted with our performance at A level. To achieve our best ever results is a real achievement and is down to the hard work and dedication of students and teachers alike.  Arnold's students can be proud of what they have achieved; we are certainly very proud of them!"

GCSE Results 2011

Following on from last week's best ever A level results at Arnold, our Year 11 pupils have produced their own set of record breaking GCSE results.  61% of all grades were at either A* or A, and nearly a third of the year group achieved a straight set of A grades.  There were some outstanding individual performances and five pupils achieved a complete set of A* grades; Andrew Alexander, Emma Brotherton, Tim Duthie, Alex Evans and Issa Patel.

These were Arnold's best ever GCSE results by a considerable margin and, with more than 85% of all grades being A* to B, pupils of all abilities achieved significantly higher grades when compared to national baseline predictions for pupils of similar abilities. Headmaster Jim Keefe said: "This is a stunning set of results and I am so proud of our students. These results are the culmination of many hours of hard work and show what can be achieved when dedicated teachers and committed pupils work together. At a time when universities are looking to recruit only the brightest and the best students, Arnold's successful GCSE students will be starting their A level courses in a very strong position.
