Girls' Cricket

Girls cricket at Arnold concentrates on two age groups - u13 and u15. Over the years both age groups have been very successful at county level in the various tournaments run by Lancashire CC on behalf of the ECB. Indeed, in 2005 the u13 team reached the final of the county round of the Lady Taverners National Trophy, losing narrowly.

Two members of that team, Georgina Read and Melissa Gulcimen have been invited to attend county u 13 training for the summer 2006 season. They are the latest in a line of county representatives since 1987.

In the spring term the action centres on the National Indoor Trophy, the final of which is played at Edgbaston, at both age groups, via local and county qualifying rounds. This seasons u13 local round will take place at Thornton Leisure centre on Wednesday 1st March.

In the summer term practices will be held regularly and all girls are invited to attend either u15 or u13 training according to ability and year group. All grls in Years 7 to 10 are encouraged to have a go and PE lessons include some work on the game.
