South Shore Community Fun Day

Everyone who attended the Annual South Shore Community Fun Day went away happy, after one of the biggest and most memorable of school events. The wonderful weather had a lot to do with the success of the day but one must not underestimate the wonderful range of attractions arranged by Arnold School, Lancashire Automobile Club and Radio Wave, working together for the community.

The day started with a mums’ netball match, not for the faint-hearted in such heat, and then it was the turn of the dads to play football. The live radio road-show was a super new feature of the day and ensured a continuous running commentary bringing in hundreds of visitors. The arena events provided something for everyone and showcased some incredible young talent. The usual stalls and games were joined by the most enormous inflatable tiger slide ever seen and other fair ground attractions.

All attention was on the playground at 1.00 pm when the first of the cars to complete the 44th Manchester to Blackpool Run arrived and started the process of filling the playground with exotic vehicles. With a combined value in excess of £20 million it is safe to say that the playground has never been so richly decorated.

Next year the South Shore Community Fun Day will be on Sunday 10th June. No doubt even bigger and better.
