Colin Snell joined the staff in 1998 from a large maintained comprehensive in Oldham where he had been the Head of the English and Drama Faculty.

As well as being an examiner and moderator for GCSE and A level Drama and Theatre Studies, he is an adjudicator for the All England Theatre Festival, a reviewer for amateur and professional theatre and holds a dramatherapy diploma from the Northern Trust for Dramatherapy. He is also the artistic director of In Yer Space, a company made up of past and present Arnold students, which has achieved a national reputation.

Personal awards for his work with young actors have been given by the Greater Manchester Drama Federation, the National Operatic and Drama Association and the All England Theatre Festival.
