Head of Department: R Bedford

Business Studies is a fairly recent addition to the curriculum. It covers a wealth of business related topics such as the types of ownership, finance, objectives, leadership styles, motivation and pay, marketing, accounting and stock and quality control. The pupils are given a good grounding in the principle areas of business and it is a subject that can be progressed at a later date, with many going on to study the subject at university. The Business Studies Department prepares pupils for GCSE and A level examinations. In recent years there has been a considerable increase in pupil numbers at GCSE level; over the last three years an average of over 40 pupils a year have opted to begin the study of this new subject. As a result of the growth in the number of pupils, three members of staff are involved in the delivery of Business Studies: Mr Bedford, Mr McIntyre and Mrs Chapman.
