British Biology Olympiad
Arnold School was well represented at the annual British Biology Olympiad Awards Ceremony held at Imperial College in London.
Robert Brocklehurst, Year 10, received his prize for achieving one of the top scores in the Biology Challenge, a new competition for Year 9 and Year 10 pupils. This was an outstanding achievement considering four thousand pupils took part this year. Robert is already looking ahead to the Olympiad itself. This is open to all A level students and culminates in the International Biology Olympiad each July.
Also attending the ceremony was Dr Treharne who organises Biology Challenge and is a member of the British Biology Olympiad Committee. Professor Colin Blakemore, President of the British Biology Olympiad and until recently the CEO of the Medical Research Council, gave an amazing talk called 'Vision Impossible' which explored the way the brain and the eyes work together to view the world around us. One of the examples he used is 'The Amazing Colour Changing Card Trick'
