Inspection

I was away for much of last week inspecting another HMC school. It is always a great privilege to be able to have such a close look at another organisation; as well as giving plenty of reassurance that we do things well at Arnold, there is also much to learn from colleagues in other schools.

This inspection was one of the last under the present regime, known as ISI 2. From January, all schools will have the new style of inspection, (ISI 3!) in which they are given five days notice of the arrival of the Registered Inspector, who will return with his or her team of inspectors about four weeks later. Preparations are well in hand as we expect to be inspected early next year. Although, sadly, the new style of inspection is much more like the OfSTED regime, where the main thrust is about compliance with government policies, I have my fingers crossed that our inspectors will still be able to spend enough time in the school to get a real insight into what we are about.

Whilst I was away the school was in Mr. Keefe's safe hands and I was able to return in time for Looking Ahead - the 6th Form Open Evening - and our Open Morning, both of which were well supported. Thank you to all those that attended.

Preparations for GREASE are well in hand.  Tickets can be obtained from Reception in the Senior School; they are going fast so do get yours soon.

Kind regards

Barry Hughes
