Farewell to the U6
What a great occasion our U6 Celebration Evening was. The weather was perfect, the atmosphere was wonderful and we were delighted to welcome Lord & Lady Carey to this very important event in the life of the school.
Master of Ceremonies, Jimmy Armfield, was on top form and I like to think that everyone - students, parents, guests and staff - went away with a smile on their face. Thank you to everyone who made it such a special evening.
We returned to school today after the half term break and although it is a little cooler, it does feel as if the summer is here now that the children have moved into summer uniform. It is also really good to see Colin White back at work; he has been missed by us all and we wish him well.
We expect to appoint a new Head for the Junior School soon and the post has attracted a stong field. With waiting lists in some years the successful candidate will have much to build on.
Pat and I spent two days last week helping pack our belongings into a large container, which by now should have left Liverpool for Canada. If our move didn't seem real before, it certainly does now. The house is bare and we now have so few things it feels like being students again.
This is a short half term and the boys and girls will be busy with examinations, not least the U6 and Year 11. I wish them all the very best as they try to outwit the examiners.
Best wishes
Barry Hughes
