Keeping up to date with developments
I wrote to Junior School parents yesterday with the news that John Storey will retire at the end of this academic year. John has worked at Arnold for 28 years and in that time has given loyal service to the whole community. With his three sons now grown, John and his wife are looking forward to beginning the next phase of their lives together and we wish them well. When the time comes, I know that John will step down with the admiration and gratitude of all those who know him.
We continue to investigate ways in which the School site can be enhanced and my recent meetings with UCST colleagues and with a firm of architects have proved very promising indeed. I am confident that we will soon follow our massive investment in new technology with a major development of the facilities. I will send more news in due course.
Purple Pinkie Day on Friday went extremely well and significant funds were raised for this worthwhile charity. As ever, our visitors were very impressed with everyone they met.
We have had some fantastic successes on the games fields recently and in the Sports News section of the website, readers can see details of hockey and rugby victories over other local schools and the winning of Lancashire titles at hockey for our U13 and U15 girls. As I write this blog our U14 squad is leaving for the National Championships at Cannock and we wish them well.
The Evening of Swing on 12th March is close to being sold out so please do get your tickets soon.
Kind regards
Barry Hughes
