Up and running as normal
This will be a short blog entry as things are incredibly busy at Arnold at the moment as we get closer to public examinations.
We began term short of ten teachers and almost a hundred children as the Icelandic eruption took its toll on global air transport. As of today the stranded teachers have all returned, as have virtually all the children. Considering they have seemingly been to all corners of the globe they have done well to get back at all.
I was really proud of the children who supported the St George's Day Festival last weekend. On Friday the CCF Cadets marched in the parade and on Sunday the Swing Band played to a packed marquee. Well done and thank you to them all and also to the parents who were happy to transport them around - and who also helped move musical instruments and other gear on Sunday.
Over the next few days there are a number of trips and visits out of school for the children to look forward to. Destinations include Liverpool University, UCLan and Manchester Museum. They should be worthwhile and should not fall victim to the volcanic ash!
Today our cricketers play the MCC - a sure sign that summer is here - and they are hoping to follow last year's first ever win with another victory. Watch this space.
Kind regards
Barry Hughes
