Dear Parents
I trust that you all had a good half term break. I know that some families took the opportunity just to "down tools" for a few days and that others headed off for warmer climes, but whatever you did I hope that it was an enjoyable few days together.
We return to a busy week with our Year 11 Parents' Evening on Tuesday and our Open Evening on Thursday. Even if it no longer affects you directly it would be good to see you at Open Evening; a visit on Thursday will give you an opportunity to see parts of the school you may not have seen for some time and, of course, to see the interactive whiteboards newly installed throughout the school.
We ended the half term with a Middle School Tea Time concert - the first that has taken place - and it was good to see so many musicians in this part of the school perform in public. We have some real talent in Years 10 & 11 and we look forward to seeing them develop further. I am sure you will also be pleased to learn the Henry Joseph arrived safely to Mr & Mrs Ross over half term. We send them our congratulations.
I have had good reports from the school trips that took place over the holiday. The Historians visited the WWI battlefields in Belgium and the A Level Geographers studied Coastal Management, Tourism and Urban Planning in Holland. Our cadets were also in action on Operation Dawn Attack with Dr Treharne and, once again, we were pleased to host the Blackpool Music Festival; more news on that elsewhere on the website.
All good wishes
Barry Hughes
