We are rapidly approaching the half term break and I hope that the whole community will enjoy a restful and well deserved holiday in the fortnight ahead. I can certainly see significant progress being made in the classroom and in the extra-curricular activities and your sons and daughters deserve some time for rest and recuperation - as well as some time to focus on school work for those in the GCSE and A level exam classes. My colleagues remain keen to ensure good habits are displayed in all aspects of study and so may I encourage all families to make sure that good study habits are being encouraged at home and that homeworks are being suitably planned.
Last weekend my wife and I attended the annual dinner of the London OA association. It was a splendid get together for those former pupils based in the south east and for those parents and friends that took the trouble to travel down to the capital.
In my absence in London, another weekend of great sport was had. There was some tough opposition that was well matched with some excellent results, and special congratulations go to our U14 hockey team that became Lancashire champions and to the 1st VII which made the final of the CCF Sevens Tournament in Portsmouth.
I would like to give a special mention to our Parents' & Friends Association for their constant support and, in particular, a thank you to those who attended the Parents & Friends Association AGM last Monday. Along with the Ladies Luncheon Club and the Old Arnoldians, this group raises significant funds for use in school and we are very grateful indeed.
All good wishes for a good break with your children
