Individuals pull together for the team
October 7th
It is just over a week since we welcomed Lord Carey of Clifton to Arnold. Formerly Archbishop of Canterbury he is currently Chairman of UCST, and visited the school with his wife and other guests to celebrate Arnold's membership of the Trust. All were delighted to meet the children, especially those in Reception, and enjoyed seeing the pupils use our new interactive classroom technology.
I spent most of last week away at the HMC conference in London. Not only was I privileged to hear some excellent speakers but, as ever, it was also good to meet up with people in the same position as myself and share ideas.
Once again a busy Open Morning was successfully run by our pupils. Junior and Senior School children acted as enthusiastic guides for the many visitors who enjoyed seeing classrooms and witnessing the school's new interactive ICT equipment in action. Mixed in with this was the opportunity to see preparations for a Duke of Edinburgh expedition, hockey coaching and interschool football, rugby and netball matches. It was a shame that the inclement weather prevented us from showing off the School at its very best, but the parents and children shown round could not have been more complimentary at the end of the tours when I met them over lunch.
All good wishes
Barry Hughes
