September 21st
After arriving in school on Monday morning our guests from the Sharad Pawar International School in Pune, India quickly became a part of the place. Happy, sociable and polite they thoroughly enjoyed their experience of a British independent school and left on Saturday morning with happy memories, having made many new friends in the UK. One of the real highlights of the visit was their enactment of an Indian wedding described elsewhere on the site. Sincere thanks to the Arnold families that hosted the children; I am sure that your own children will have gained a great deal from the experience.
The weather was kind on Friday when we took the whole school photograph. The pupils were very well turned out, extremely well behaved and, as ever, such good company. I was very proud of them.
This has also been another busy weekend with both the Arnold Roadshow at Fylde RFC and the Parents' & Friends' Day in the Lakes at Brockhole on Windermere. My thanks go to the P & F for their hard work in making their annual "ice breaker" for new parents such a success.
May I draw your attention to two forthcoming events that, I hope, will receive your support. The first is Choral Evensong on Thursday 2nd October at 5.15pm when the Girls' Choir will sing in the beautiful setting of Blackburn Cathedral. The second is Sing-a-Long with Oliver in the Memorial Hall here at school at 7.30pm on Saturday 4th October, which will give us all a chance to get into good voice for the major production at the end of term. I look forward to seeing you again at these or other events at some stage.
All good wishes
Barry Hughes
