September 14th
The children appear to have returned to school in good spirits and, perhaps despite what they may say to their parents, they are clearly enjoying being back. Our new pupils have also made a very good start and we look forward to seeing them develop as time goes on.
Our sports teams have been busy already and the match reports elsewhere on the website tell stories of endeavour and a healthy balance of success and failure. Do come along and support when you can. (The rugby refereeing is especially good!)
Today's lovely sunshine was timely as we were able to host our new parents and their children outside in the quadrangle. What a pleasant morning it was and, once again, there is a story and pictures elsewhere on the website.
2008 has been a momentous year for Arnold School. Not only were we featured in The Good Schools Guide and well placed in the Financial Times table of the top schools in England, but, as you know, we took the decision to join forces with the United Schools Church Trust, giving us an unrivaled opportunity to make this fine school even better. The first benefits of this exciting partnership became evident over the summer holiday, when the entire school was equipped with the very latest Interactive Whiteboards and associated technology. Teaching and, more particularly, learning will never be the same again at Arnold and we expect to see the benefits of this huge financial outlay very quickly. We also recently had initial meetings with the Trust's architects and over the next 6 months we will work very closely with them to develop a strategic plan that will guide us as we carry out a multi-million pound development of the site. Our pupils deserve the very best facilities and we aim to provide them. What a time to be a part of the Arnold story!
Kind regards
Barry Hughes
