Arnold biathletes excel in Liverpool

Year 11 student, Marcus Quarmby, has qualified for the 2009 English Schools' Biathlon Finals to be held in London. Marcus came a wonderful second place in last weekend’s North West qualifying round in Liverpool.

The schools' final will take place during the 2009 World Pentathlon Championships to be held at Crystal Palace in August next year. This is a terrific opportunity for Marcus to rub shoulders with some of the world’s top Pentathletes in what will be the most prestigious Modern Pentathlon event to be held in London since 1986.

Also flying the flag for Arnold were younger brother Daniel (Year 9) who, in his first competitive event since returning from injury, came a creditable 7th. Sister, Alexandra (Year 7), did extremely well to come 10th out of a field of 42 in her first ever schools' biathlon competition. All three achieved personal bests in both the run and the long course swim elements.

We wish Marcus the best of luck for his final next year!
