Arnoldians Online is the name of the FREE internet based database system that will hold the names of all known Old Arnoldians. It is only available to genuine OAs and although some former pupils may have been put off by the registration questions, they are there to ensure that only bona fide OAs register.
Friends Reunited does not have built in filters and allows anyone to register as having gone to any school, college or University. Does anyone know an “Abc Xyz”, registered on Friends Reunited as leaving Arnold in 1967? That cannot happen on Arnoldians Online.
If all OAs register on Arnoldians Online, the benefits to existing OAs and more importantly, future OAs, will be tremendous. It is a big “If”.
The main benefits are:-
• Maintaining contact with existing friends and getting in touch with old friends.
• Having your own Email address that stays with you for life, even if you change ISP. (Incidentally, over 160 OAs changed ISP in the last year and did not advise us)
• Enter and keep up to date your personal data (including contact details)
• Build a Who’s Who and offer you knowledge and expertise to other OAs and 6th Formers seeking careers advice.
• Keep in touch with News and Events, both of OA activities and in School.
• Search for fellow OAs either in your year or where you work or live.
We have an aim to have 80% of all OAs using Arnoldians Online by 2010 and 99% by 2015. You may have read elsewhere that the School is hoping to use the Internet as the main form of communication with parents of current pupils. The same applies for the pupils when they leave Arnold to become OAs. The Internet may well have been superseded by 2015 but we will ensure that we will make use of whatever technology has been invented!
So if you haven’t done so already, please do register right away.
